The Top 10 Best Locations for Boating in the United States

By Boating

The following list is comprised of constant favorites of sailors, power cruisers, anglers and watersports fans for seasonal or year-round boating, and is not in a specific order.

San Juan Islands– Here, instead of palm trees and tropical fish, there are forests filled with pine trees and the sea life includes killer whales! Located in the Pacific Northwest, each island and town has a distinct charm of its own.

San Francisco Bay- It is extremely windy with relatively calm seas. Sailors and power boaters love it.

Lake Havasu– It is located on the border between Southern California and Arizona. Young boaters often party here, making the area seem like an endless Spring Break celebration. Havasu attracts many sport boats, but there are also plenty of houseboats and pontoon boats.

Lake Champlain– This lake is on the border of Vermont and New York State. It is 125 miles long, and stretches into Canadian waters. There are 80 islands to enjoy. There are many historical sites along the lake as well.

Isle Royale National Park– This is the second largest island in the Great Lakes. Isle Royale can be found on Lake Superior. There are hundreds of shipwrecks to explore if you enjoy diving, but the water can be cold, so make sure to bring your gear and thick wet suits!

Mackinac Island– This is also in the Great Lakes, on Lake Huron. Summer is a busy time of year for this lake. Each year, the Chicago Yacht Club hosts a challenging race, with a distance of over 300 miles, up Lake Michigan.

Newport, Rhode Island– This is a boater’s paradise. The sunsets are so beautiful. Newport has a distinguished boat show each September for power boaters and sail boaters.

Chesapeake Bay– It is almost 200 miles long and up to 30 miles wide. About half of the Bay is in Maryland and the other half is in Virginia. Rockfish fishing is popular, but any kind of boating is common.

South Florida– From Fort Lauderdale all the way through the Florida Keys to the Key West, fishing is extremely popular. The eastern coast is a common place for center console fishing boats.

Northwest Florida– Tampa Bay on the western coast of the state is great for paddle boarders, kayakers, fishermen and sailors. There’s so much to do, from dock dining, beach camping, and cruising.

4 Reasons Why Some Art is so Expensive

By Art, Food for thought

The term “artist” describes a painter, illustrator, graphic designer, sculptor, novelist, poet, filmmaker, and even a musician. Art is such a broad term because there are so many various forms of art. Art is defined as “works produced by human creative skill and imagination.” So, if everyone has the potential for creative skill and imagination, why is some art SO expensive?

Here are a few reasons why some art is extremely costly:

  1. It’s hard to put a value on art.

The value of art is determined by the perceiver. The same piece of art can be meaningful to one person, and completely meaningless to another. However, factors like the size of the artwork, the age of the artwork, the artist, and if it has been bought before are important to take into consideration when placing a value on a piece of art.

  1. Supply and demand.

Many pieces of artwork receive an increased value after the artist has passed away because artwork by that person becomes limited. The demand for this artwork increases, which also increases the cost.

  1. Art is seen as an easy investment.

Art’s value is constantly changing. One day, it could be worth a million dollars, but a decade later, it could be worth so much more than that. Because of this, wealthy people sometimes purchase art for the purpose of gaining more wealth rather than to have the artwork.

  1. Practicing art is expensive.

The supplies needed to create good-quality art can be very costly. Creating art also takes a lot of time. It’s also difficult for artists to sell their work for a reasonable price locally. This is why artists are usually called starving artists. Because the mediums to create the artwork are expensive, and it takes hours upon hours to finally have the piece of artwork completed, the value of the art increases tremendously.

Our art is not as costly as many other pieces of art that’s out there! We have cool, affordable art that will decorate your house perfectly! Take a look at our nautical print gallery and let your creative imagination run wild! https://www.fishayetrading.com/wall-art/

Saltwater Fishing Tips

By Fishing

Due to the different types of saltwater fish and number of saltwater fishing tips and techniques that can be applied, learning all the tricks when it comes to how to saltwater fish can be a challenge for both seasoned anglers and beginners.

Just remember, the types of fishing tackle and gear that is used for saltwater fishing differs considerably based on the species and the specific fishing techniques that are applied. Other saltwater fishing tips to keep in mind:

  1. Make sure to have a valid saltwater fishing license.
  2. Check a local tide chart when planning your inshore saltwater fishing trip. One of the most important inshore fishing tips is to plan your trips based on tidal movement.
  3. Choose the right spinning rod and reel combo. Start out with a 7-foot, medium weight spinning rod and reel combo that’s rated for 10 to 20-pound test line.
  4. Use live or natural baits or your favorite fishing lures. Natural baits, such as shrimp or baitfish, offer you the best opportunity for consistent action.
  5. Make sure to keep your live bait in a covered bucket or in a live well.
  6. Consider fishing from a public pier to start. Public piers are great places to gain experience with inshore saltwater fishing gear, rigging baits, and landing fish.
  7. When practicing catch and release, keep your catch out of the water only as long as you can hold your own breath.

Learning how to saltwater fish is as much about the adventure as it is about the fish. Many of the sport fish species can be big and mean, and the water can be big and bad. From shallow saltwater flats to deep ocean fishing, saltwater anglers chase everything from dainty speckled trout to massive blue marlin in some of the most intense and inspirational surroundings on earth.

What is (Gyo = fish Taku = imaging)?

Fish Rubbing originated in the Orient back in the early 1800′s. It has been used to preserve records of fisherman’s catches. As time has moved on, people have found the prints to be visually pleasing. The Art of Gyotaku is a delicate and ever-changing art form. The potential to create new and different works increase with each new design. Each fish rubbing is unique. The set up can be changed in a variety of ways. We can use a broad range of prints or inks. The printing stock can vary from the gentlest rice paper to a much firmer canvas. The basic method remains relatively simple. Apply paint or ink to the actual fish and lay your paper or canvas on top of it. Then rub over the entire fish and gently peel the paper off to have a look at your new creation. It is also a wonderful way to stay close to the ocean and appreciate the beauty and variety of marine life. Also, it is said that it brings good luck to the fisherman.

We are looking forward to showcasing our products in your store and helping to add to your profit in 2021! You can find more information on becoming a retailer and sign up here: https://www.fishayetrading.com/contact/wholesale/.
